Pacific Rim is a win with smashing, crashing, mecha-tastic, kaiju-arificness. And a win for joyful secondary eccentric over-the-top characters. As for plot, it gets by. And the main characters and their development? Ummm. Well. Hey look, something exploded. Basically, this is a Michael Bey movie, if Michael Bey had talent. Which is a kind of recommendation.

Gotta love the Japanese. Fish gain mechanical legs and hit the streets of the city. There’s shark attacks in living rooms, a virus, bloated green people, body horror/tentacle hentai, the apocalypse, and the hopeless feeling so prevalent in Asian horror. And it’s animated. It made me sooooo happy.
